TThe OLIGHT i1R 2 Pro is a great option for everyday carry or as a backup trail light. Its compact size, low weight, USB-C charging, and 180-lumen output make it useful during emergencies or for quick tasks around camp. It fits easily in a pocket, repair kit, or hip-belt pouch without adding much weight.

The simple twist control provides a 5-lumen low mode and a brighter 180-lumen high mode. It works well for finding gear inside your tent, reading signs, checking your campsite, or providing light if your headlamp fails. Its IPX8 water-resistance rating also makes it suitable for wet trail conditions.

However, it is not practical as your main trail light because it has limited mounting options. You must usually hold it, which leaves only one hand free and makes hiking or completing camp chores harder. The OLIGHT i1R 2 Pro works best as a lightweight backup, while a dedicated headlamp remains the better choice for regular trail use.

I would not find benefit for this as a main light on a trail. I would recommend it as a backup if you weight allowances allow for it.
